Kāʻeo oversees the Community Engagement and Resources Group, the nexus of KS programs, services, and lands with the systems and communities with which the organization seeks to interact and elevate. This includes more than 360,000 acres of agricultural and conservation lands, place-based education facilities, and sustainability initiatives on five islands. KSʻ mission is to improve the capability and well-being of Hawaiians through education. They operate a P-12 educational system serving 7,000 students of Hawaiian ancestry statewide, as well as programs and services serving Native Hawaiian students and teachers in the public education system. He holds a BS in civil engineering from Princeton University and both a Master of Science and a doctorate in environmental engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
